The Area on an Amman Address: Why It Matters
Amman is a big city with repeated street names. The area and a landmark turn a name into a place.
Jordan Airport Transfer2 min
Add the area to every Amman address. The city is large and the drive from the airport is 30 to 50 minutes, so a street name alone, or a hotel brand with several branches, can send a car to the wrong district. The area, a landmark and a phone number settle it.

What counts as an area
Districts such as Abdoun, Sweifieh, Shmeisani, Jabal Amman or Downtown are the names people use for parts of the city. Write the one on your booking. If the booking has no area, ask the hotel for one.
A landmark helps
A bank, a school, a large shop or a roundabout near the door is the clue a driver uses at the last turn. Choose something visible from the street, not something inside a building.
Use the name the locals use
If you are staying with friends or family, ask them for the district as they say it. People often name a neighbourhood differently from the map, and the word a local gives is the one a local driver recognises. Write that word, and the map name beside it if they differ.
