The resort on the shore
The hotels sit on the shore, away from Amman neighborhoods. Put the resort name in the request so the driver has a gate, not only the words Dead Sea.
Sweimeh and the other hotel clusters are different doors. An Amman airport to Dead Sea request here starts at Queen Alia. A city address belongs on the Amman transfer page.
The drive from Queen Alia to the Dead Sea
The Dead Sea is one of the shortest trips from the airport. Transfer sites and hotel pages put it at about 62 to 70 km and roughly one hour, which is far less than the drive to Petra or Aqaba. The road drops towards the shore, and the Dead Sea is the lowest point on land, more than 400 metres below sea level, so the last part of the drive is downhill.
Go straight to the resort, or stop in Amman
Because the trip is short, many travellers go directly from the plane to the resort and use the first afternoon at the pool or on the shore. A direct car avoids a change of vehicle in Amman with luggage. If you want a stop in the city on the way, write it in the notes of your request. It is not assumed.
Name the resort, not only the Dead Sea
The hotels are spread along the shore and in different clusters, with the Sweimeh area among the best known. Each resort has its own gate and entrance road. Send the exact hotel name from your booking so the driver has a destination, not a region.
Timing and check-in
With a drive of about an hour, your resort check-in time matters more than the road. If you land early in the morning, ask the hotel whether you can leave bags or check in early. If you land in the evening, the shore is quiet, so confirm that the hotel reception is open when you plan to arrive.
The shore and your resort
Access to the water depends on the resort. Hotels have their own stretch of shore, pools and changing rooms, and day visitors are handled differently from guests. Ask your hotel what is included on arrival day, and keep a change of clothes in your hand luggage, because the large bag will be in the boot.
Dead Sea or Amman for the first night
The shore is about an hour from the airport, Amman is about 30 to 50 minutes, so the drive is not what separates them. The difference is the evening. Resorts on the shore are quiet and mostly eat at their own restaurants, while Amman offers a city to walk and eat in. After a long flight many travellers choose the quiet shore, and keep Amman for later in the trip. Pick the one that matches how you want the first evening to feel, and write that address in the request.
A worked example: landing to the pool
If the flight lands at 15:00, you are in the arrivals hall near 16:00 and at the resort about an hour later, around 17:00. That leaves the end of the afternoon for the shore or the pool and dinner at the hotel. A direct drive after a long flight is why many people choose the Dead Sea for the first night.
Combining the Dead Sea with other stops
Some travellers stop in Madaba or at Mount Nebo before the shore, and some go to the Dead Sea from Amman later in the trip. A stop adds time, so write it in the request together with how long you want to stay. The route guides in our travel notes cover those combinations in more detail.
What to send
The resort name, the flight number, the landing time, how many people are travelling and how many bags, plus any stop on the way. Ask for the fare for the Dead Sea route in the same message. A reply confirms the car.
What to send
Send the resort, the flight, the time you want to leave the airport, and the number of passengers. A stop in Amman has to be written in the notes.
