Amman Airport to the Dead Sea: About 1 Hour
About 60 to 70 km and around one hour by car, ending at the resort you name. The Dead Sea is the shortest long-haul transfer from the airport.

Between Queen Alia and the Dead Sea lie about 60 to 70 km, a drive of around an hour that ends at a resort on the shore. It is the quickest of the longer runs out of the airport, far shorter than the roads to Petra or Aqaba, and the last stretch of it drops steeply toward the water.
| Dead Sea in brief | |

| Drop-off | A named resort on the shore |

Why 60 and 70 km are both right
Transfer sites quote about 62 km, a hotel page about 65 km and another listing 70 km. The shore is long, and each resort sits at a different point along it, so the figure moves with the gate you are heading to. The time moves less than the distance, which is why one hour is the number to remember.
The descent
The Dead Sea is the lowest point on land, more than 400 metres below sea level. The road from the airport therefore runs downhill for its last part, and the air at the bottom is warmer and heavier than in Amman. Some travellers notice it as soon as the door opens.
Short drive, long afternoon
Because the road is short, the day after landing is largely yours. A resort that lets you check in early or leave bags turns an arrival at midday into an afternoon by the water. The reverse is also true: a landing in the small hours means a quiet shore and a hotel that may not have a kitchen open.
Where to go next
To write the destination correctly, read name the Dead Sea resort on the request. To start the request, open the Dead Sea transfer page. If the airport bus is on your mind, see the Dead Sea and the airport bus. A stop in Madaba on the way is described in Queen Alia Airport to Madaba.

Queen Alia to the Dead SeaRequest a transferQuestions
How far is the Dead Sea from Queen Alia airport?
About 60 to 70 km, which is roughly one hour by car depending on the resort and the traffic.
Can I go to the Dead Sea without stopping in Amman?
Yes. Name the resort as the destination and the car goes straight there. A stop in Amman only happens if you write it in the notes.
Which resort should I give?
The one in your booking. The shore has more than one gate and cluster of hotels, so the exact name matters.
Is the Dead Sea closer than Petra?
Yes, by a large margin: about one hour against 2.5 to 3.5 hours for Petra.
