Petra and the Dead Sea: Two Requests, About 3 Hours Apart
The Dead Sea is 1 hour from the airport, Petra 2.5 to 3.5 hours, and the two are about 3 hours apart. Each is its own request.

Petra and the Dead Sea are two requests because each request has one destination. From Queen Alia the Dead Sea is about an hour (60 to 70 km) and Petra about 2.5 to 3.5 hours (210 to 235 km), and the road between them is about 150 to 200 km, roughly three hours. Choose which comes first, and make the second its own request with the first stop as the pickup.
| Leg | Distance (about) | Drive time (about) |
|---|---|---|
| Queen Alia to the Dead Sea | 60–70 km | 1 hour |
| Queen Alia to Petra (Wadi Musa) | 210–235 km | 2.5–3.5 hours |
| Dead Sea to Petra | 150–200 km | About 3 hours |
Which one first
Land and go to the Dead Sea first if you want a short first drive and a rest by the shore, then travel to Petra the next day. Go to Petra first if you want to see the site while you are fresh, and take the Dead Sea at the end of the trip. A flight that lands in the afternoon fits the shore first; a morning landing leaves room for the longer road to Wadi Musa.
A worked example
A flight lands at 10:00. The car leaves near 11:00 and reaches a Dead Sea resort around noon. The next morning a second car leaves the resort at 09:00 and, at about three hours, reaches Wadi Musa near noon. The second ride is a separate request, with the resort as the pickup and the Wadi Musa hotel as the destination.
Making the second request
Write the first stop as the pickup, the second as the destination, the date, the time, how many people and bags, and ask for the fare. The first reply does not cover the second ride. The general rule is in one drop-off per request.
When to send each request
Send the first request before you fly. Send the second as soon as the day is fixed, ideally a day or more ahead, so the reply can confirm a car for that hour. If the plan changes, write in the same conversation and keep the latest reply as your reference.
If your flight is delayed
A delay moves the first ride and may move the second. Send the new landing time and tell both the resort and the Wadi Musa hotel, so each expects you at the right hour. If the delay is long, ask the second hotel whether late check-in is possible.
Check-out and check-in between the two stops
Resorts have check-out hours and hotels have check-in hours, and a three-hour drive sits between them. Leave the first stop early enough to arrive at the second after check-in opens, and ask the resort whether you can have breakfast before you go.
Checklist before you travel
- The resort name and the Wadi Musa hotel name from the bookings
- The date and time of each ride, with the drive time between them
- The reply that confirmed each car, saved on your phone
- A charged phone and a charger in the hand luggage
What to send for the first ride
Use the page of the stop you reach first: the Dead Sea transfer page or the Petra transfer page. For a trip that continues to the desert, the next stop is explained in Wadi Rum and Aqaba. A reply confirms each car.

Can one car take me to the Dead Sea and then to Petra?
Not as two confirmed destinations on one request. The first stop is one request, and the ride from there to Petra is a second request.
How far apart are Petra and the Dead Sea?
About 150 to 200 km, roughly three hours by road.
Which should I see first?
Dead Sea first for a short first drive and a rest; Petra first to see the site while you are fresh. Either order works.
Can the notes mention the second place?
Yes, as a plan. The confirmed drop-off is still the destination field.
