Where to Meet Your Driver at Queen Alia: The Arrivals Hall and Beyond

The meeting point exists once a reply names it. Know the order of the arrivals hall, what stands outside it, and what to do if you cannot find your driver.

Your driver waits at the meeting point named in the reply, and until a reply names one there is no meeting point to look for. After passport control and baggage claim you walk out into the arrivals hall, and the point is usually the exit you will use or a place near it. Agree it before you fly.

What stands near the exit

Royal Jordanian’s own travel notes for Queen Alia place the airport taxi kiosk outside the arrivals hall’s main exit and the public buses in front of both terminals. That is useful when you plan the meeting: the main exit is where the taxis and the people offering rides gather, so a point a little to one side is easier to find than the middle of the crowd.

Writing a good meeting point

  • Name the exit or the pillar rather than the whole hall.
  • Add a landmark inside the hall you can both see, such as a café or a desk.
  • Agree a phone number to call if the hall is busy.
  • Write the point in the notes of the request so the reply can repeat it.

If you cannot find your driver

Stay inside the arrivals area and look at the exits again against the point in the reply. Message the number you were given, with the exit you are standing at. Do not leave with someone who has not been arranged, and wait for a message or a call before you move.

If the flight lands at a different time

Send the new landing time as soon as you know it. The flight number lets the reply follow your real landing: read the flight number on a Queen Alia transfer. For the order of the rest of the arrival, read how to get from Queen Alia Airport to Amman.

Who does the arranging

The request is written on the Queen Alia transfer page and the reply names the point, as described in how booking works. If you are comparing options at the terminal, the notes on the airport taxi are in Queen Alia airport taxi or a private transfer, and what to write in the notes field is in notes on a Queen Alia transfer.

Meeting as a group

When several people land together, agree who looks for the driver and who stays with the bags. Give the driver the name on the sign and one phone number that someone will answer, because a group arrives in a line and the driver sees only the first few faces. Keep everyone near the point named in the reply, not spread across the hall.

Reading the reply for the meeting point

Before you fly, read the reply for three things: the exit or place to meet, the name or sign to look for, and a phone number for the day. If one of them is missing, ask in the same conversation. A meeting point you have only guessed at is the commonest reason travellers and drivers miss each other.

A quiet exit at night

At night fewer people are in the hall, and the meeting point is easier to see but the hall may feel empty. Keep your phone charged, stand where the lighting is good and the exit is visible, and keep the reply on your screen so you can show it to the driver.
