If You Have Not Received a Reply: What to Do Before You Fly

If no reply has arrived, no car is confirmed. The draft you sent is a request, and silence is not a yes. Re-check what you sent, write again in the same conversation, and keep other transport in mind until a reply names a car.

• Check the number you used and that the message was delivered, not only sent.
• Write again in the same conversation, flight number first, then the date.
• If your trip is within a day or two, say so at the top of the message.
• Keep a fallback, such as the terminal taxi desk, until a reply confirms.

A plain follow-up

A good second message is short: the flight number, the date, the address and a line such as I have not yet received a reply. Repeating the whole story helps less than the three facts that identify the request.

The day before you fly

Look at the conversation once more. If a reply is there, check that it names the date and the meeting point. If it is not, decide on your fallback so that you are not deciding in the hall. Queen Alia airport taxi or a private transfer describes the fallback.

Keep the message plain

The person who reads your message handles many of them, so a short, plain message gets a faster answer than a long one. Put the date and the flight number first, because they identify you. If you use more than one phone or number, check that you are writing from the one that sent the original request.
