The distance and the time
Public pages give about 62 to 63 km and about 1 hour 10 minutes for the airport and Jerash, while others give up to roughly 76 km. The spread comes from straight-line and road distance, and from traffic. Plan for about an hour and a quarter, and more at peak times in the Amman area.
A first night in Jerash, or a day trip from Amman
Jerash is close enough to Amman to visit in a day, and many travellers choose to sleep in Amman and go north for the ruins. If you would rather end the travel day in Jerash, the car can take you there directly. Choose by how long you want to be on the road after landing: Jerash is about an hour and a quarter, Amman about 30 to 50 minutes.
A worked example
A flight lands at 12:00. After about an hour for passport control and bags the car leaves near 13:00, and you reach Jerash between roughly 14:00 and 14:30, which leaves the afternoon for the town.
Which address to give
Write the hotel name or the street address in Jerash, not only the town. If you want to be dropped at the entrance of the archaeological site, name that point as the destination. A stop in Amman on the way goes in the notes.
A shorter hop in the other direction
If you would rather stay close to the airport on the first night, Madaba is only about 22 to 31 km away: see Queen Alia Airport to Madaba. For the Amman option, read how to get from Queen Alia Airport to Amman.
Going back to the airport from Jerash
The road is the same in reverse, about 1 to 1.25 hours. Work back from your flight: add the time your airline asks you to be at the airport, often about three hours before an international departure, then the drive, then a margin for traffic in the Amman area. For a 14:00 flight that means leaving Jerash near 09:00 or earlier.
Hotel or site entrance
A hotel in Jerash has an address the driver can find. The archaeological site has its own entrance, and hotels are not always beside it. Write the point where the car should stop, and put a second contact number in the notes if the person arriving is not the person writing.
What to send
Open the Queen Alia transfer page and write the flight number, the date and time, the Jerash address, how many people and bags, and any stop. Which drop-off to book points each route to its page.
